Frequently Asked Questions

Edusen Tuition Ltd was established specifically to meet the needs of the Local Authorities and Councils who would seek private tutors to students who are most vulnerable. Whilst tutors are available via regular tuition companies, we believe that this category of pupils deserve a specialist tuition company who focusses on them specifically and are dedicated to helping and supporting these pupils to achieve their potential. Edusen Tuition is driven by helping others, especially those who really need it. Although we provide tuition services to all, our focus is to provide quality tuition to those who are disadvantaged i.e vulnerable students, Special Educational Needs and Disabled (SEND), students out of school, cared for children and any other student who requires additional support.  We also believe in supporting the community, therefore allocating 20% of profits to supporting the education of Armed Forces children. See our ‘supporting the community ‘ page for further details.

All of our tutors have to meet extremely high standards to become part of the Edusen Tuition team. Our tutor support team ensures that each tutor has the relevant experience and the right attitude to be a successful tutor. During our vetting process, we look for tutors who are well experienced within education settings and working with childrens from all backgrounds. All of our SEN tutors are required to have the relevant experience and knowledge to be successful. Many of our private tutors are qualified teachers with good degrees. All of our tutors must have up to date knowledge of different teaching styles involving SEN students and many hold SEN specific qualifications.

When you select Edusen Tuition, you should rest assured that your tutor will have been recruited using stringent measures included in our recruitment policy. Alongside these measures, our tutors will have had to pass our four stage application process which includes a one to one interview, DBS check, reference check and confirm their right to work in the United Kingdom. We take the safeguarding of our pupils and tutors extremely seriously and have the correct policies and procedures in place to ensure everybody involved is as safe as possible. If you have any safeguarding concerns or questions, please contact our safeguarding manager at safeguard@edusen-tuition.co.uk or in a matter of urgency call our safeguarding manager directly on 0333  301 0903 who is available during office hours and out of hours.

All fees will be discussed according to requirements, location and experience of the tutor. However, as a guideline online tuition begins at £15 per hour, private tuition at the home of a student begins at £20 per hour for less experienced tutors, £30+ per hour for more experienced tutors (usually qualified teachers). Specialist SEN tuition fees will be towards the higher end of the spectrum. All fees are subject to change and will be discussed further during consultations.

Please get in touch via bookings@edusen-tuition.co.uk with details about the student, the location of the proposed tuition and any special requirements. We aim to get in touch within 24 hours of your query. Once we have a clear picture of your requirements we will match up one of our experienced tutors to you. Once a tutor is assigned to you, you will be asked to join our bookings system which will enable you to communicate with the tutor, access calendars, make payments (if required), have a video call with your tutor etc.

Here at Edusen Tuition we believe in recruiting the best possible people to represent our company and brand. We aim at all times to recruit based on qualifications, experience and specialist skills which are specific to the ethos of our company. In most cases our tutors must hold a degree with a high classification in order to be able to join us. However, we believe that specialist skills are most important when working with disadvantaged and vulnerable children, therefore, we also seek to recruit tutors who can offer this. We also aim to seek tutors who have  Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and tutors with specialist training such as SEN training are very valuable to us. All tutors must be DBS cleared and have experience working with and teaching disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils.

Currently, we are not accommodating face to face private tuition due to restrictions. Online tuition is currently being carried out as normal. However as restrictions ease, we will encourage our tutors to try and conduct their face to face sessions in an outdoor area if possible with reasonable distance and we also recommend the use of a face mask for both the student and the tutor.

Contract

Our tutors must be qualified teachers and have a university degree as a minimum qualification at grade 2.2 or above. We strive to offer the highest quality of tuition to our students and actively seek tutors who have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We also recruit based on experience and skill too as we believe that there are many highly skilled SEN specialists who do not have a teaching qualification. We have a fair recruitment policy in place which enables each applicant to have equal opportunities.

We expect our tutors to carry out engaging and informative sessions during each lesson. We regularly conduct random checks to ensure the teaching is of the highest standard possible. We expect regular reporting and feedback from our tutors to monitor progress and implement further measures to ensure success.
